Use this page to find recent NHTSA campaigns for cars, trucks, SUVs, EVs, tires, child car seats and motor vehicle equipment.
Search the make, model year, component, manufacturer recall number or NHTSA campaign number to understand the defect and remedy.
A campaign result does not prove your exact vehicle has an open recall. Use the official NHTSA VIN or license plate lookup for unrepaired recall status.
For car seats and tires, match the model name, manufacture date, size, sidewall code, label details and official instructions before use.
Use make, model and model year when you want general recall notices for a vehicle line. This is useful before buying, selling or scheduling service.
Your VIN is usually on the lower driver-side windshield, driver-side door label, registration card, title or insurance document.
Campaign numbers identify official recall actions. Use them to compare the defect summary, affected units, component, remedy and manufacturer recall number.
Safety recall remedies are normally completed by an authorized dealer at no charge. Follow any do-not-drive, park-outside or stop-use instruction in the official notice.
Search for sedan, SUV, van, pickup and crossover recalls involving crash risk, fire risk, visibility, braking, steering, airbags or seat belts.
Modern recalls may involve battery systems, charging, rearview cameras, warning lights, over-the-air software remedies or driver-assistance features.
Tire recalls can involve size, brand, model, production date, sidewall markings, tread separation risk or other safety defects.
NHTSA also covers child restraint systems and vehicle equipment, including latches, labels, buckles, replacement parts and accessories.
Recall notices may involve airbag inflators, seat belt pretensioners, child restraint anchors or warning systems that affect crash protection.
These recalls can affect stopping distance, steering control, wheel attachment, suspension components or stability control systems.
Backup cameras, headlights, taillights, windshield wipers and display software can create visibility or compliance issues.
Fire-risk recalls may include instructions to park outside, avoid charging, stop driving or wait for an interim remedy.
This page helps you search recall notices. For exact open recall status on one vehicle, use the official NHTSA VIN or license plate lookup and compare any linked campaign details.
An NHTSA campaign number is the official identifier for a recall action. It helps match the defect, affected vehicles, remedy and manufacturer communication.
Safety recall remedies are generally free at an authorized dealer. The official notice explains whether the remedy is a repair, replacement, refund, software update or inspection.
A make and model recall may affect only certain production ranges or VINs. Recently announced recalls may also need time before all VINs are loaded by the manufacturer or agency.
